Its An Air Dam, Spoiler, Or Lip, Depending On Who You Ask.
Is that a necessary piece or could something else be wrong? What is plastic piece under front bumper called? I have a 2007 nissan sentra.

That's Why Some Automakers Add A Plastic Strip (Also Called A Front Lower Valance Or Air Dam) To The Bottom Of The Bumper On Their Cars.
It's designed to shape the airflow under the truck so that it's more 'aerodynamic' at high speeds (which is snake oil), and also to make changing the 5.0 oil filter more of a pain in the ***. I think the screw on each end overlaps the corner caps, but i dont remember for sure. Mine was still on when i removed the bumper.
They Are Very Close To The Ground On The Gen 2 Cruze So It Does Scrape Easily.
There should be 3 or 4 hex cap sheet metal screws from the lip up into the bumper, just screw these out and pull. It strikes me as something that would hinder ground clearance or otherwise brush into things. When i got home i found that the plastic piece that runs under the front bumper and radiator was partially disconnected from the car's body and was broken and cracked.
